The vet should sedate the kitty as soon as possible in those cases. Sometimes it's possible to sedate the cat while it's in the carrier with the owner holding it.

My guess? The Times was planning a piece about the neighborhood he lives in. Whether it was a legit story or a cover to dox him is probably up to interpretation. The reporter doing the story was probably interviewing neighbors and asking leading questions about Carlson and lining up photos that made neighbors suspicious and they called him.
Sounds plausible.
a primary in a single district isn't going to be very well polled. I doubt its possible to see a 40pt gap or even a 10pt gap between polled numbers and reality on a national scale.
But I agree with your main point that we should be wary of polls.
